For the third consecutive year, Air Synapsis has proudly supported helicopter operations at the Saudi Arabia Formula One Grand Prix by setting up and managing three separate heliports.
Our dedicated efforts involved comprehensive planning and execution to ensure seamless operations throughout the high-profile event. Here’s a detailed overview of our contributions.
Heliport Setup and Design
Air Synapsis played a crucial role in designing and setting up three distinct heliports for the Formula One Grand Prix in coordination with the venues and the helicopter operators. Our team meticulously planned each heliport’s layout to accommodate the helicopter traffic expected during the event. Our design process included:
- Site Assessment: Conducting thorough evaluations of the designated areas to determine the optimal setting-out for the heliports.
- Design and Layout: Creating detailed blueprints that addressed operational efficiency, safety, and accessibility for the helicopters and their passengers.
Lighting System Installation
To ensure visibility and safety during nighttime operations, we supplied and installed state-of-the-art lighting systems by Aerolighting at each heliport. Our lighting solutions were designed to meet the highest standards and included:
- DALI controlled: with the use of the DALI technology, lighting intensity can be easily controlled with dimming commands without affecting the lifespan of the system.
- Fully inset lighting: For safer ground operations all inset lights were fully flush.
- Energy-Efficient Solutions: Utilizing advanced technology to reduce energy consumption while maintaining performance.
- Portable system: a temporary helipad was set-up using a customized portable heliport lighting system.
Securing Flight Operations
In addition to the design and setup, Air Synapsis was responsible for securing the flight operations during the Grand Prix. This involved:
- Operational Coordination: Collaborating with event organizers and aviation authorities to ensure smooth and safe helicopter operations.
- Safety Protocols: Implementing rigorous safety measures to handle the dynamic environment of the Formula One event.
- On-Site Management: Providing real-time support and oversight to address any issues that arose during the operations.
The Heliports Consisted Of:
- Medical Heliport:located strategically near the Grand Prix circuit, this heliport hosted the medical helicopter and its crew to support the collocated medical center.
- Royal Heliport: this dual FATO heliport is designed to accommodate VVIP traffic.
- Media Heliport: located outside of the track, this support heliport was setup as a temporary helipad supported by our portable lighting system. This heliport hosted media helicopter operations, refueling and line maintenance activities.
